The Challenge

Thorough cleaning of the sorting line is required to assure good quality of the sorting water. Insufficient removal of organic material forms the ideal growth medium for fungi and bacteria in the sorting water, thereby compromising the food safety and quality of the fruit. Additionally, disinfection with Huwa-San TR-50 that will take place afterwards will have increased efficacy in a clean environment. An effective foam cleaner is therefore the ideal start for a clean, hygienic sorting line and pathogen-free sorting water.

Our Solution

With Roam Eco Clean, Roam Technology offers an ecological cleaning product that is ideally suited for removal of organic matter on a wide variety of materials. During this study, the sorting water was discarded and gross dirt was manually removed. Immediately afterwards, 2% Roam Eco Clean solution was applied using a standard foam dosing system. After respecting a contact time of 30 min, the sorting line was rinsed with cold water with a pressure washer.

Roam Eco Clean showed an excellent adhesion to all vertical surfaces and the organic deposit was effectively removed. Additionally, to obtain an objective indication of cleanliness of the surfaces, ATP surface swabs were used. Three independent swabs were taken on the surface. One swab was taken immediately after removal of the sorting water, this procedure was repeated after removing the gross dirt and after cleaning the surface with Roam Eco Clean. The results indicate a reduction of 95.5% in ATP value after using Roam Eco Clean.
