Organic production is an overall system of farm management and food production that combines best environmental practices, a high level of biodiversity, the preservation of natural resources, the application of high animal welfare standards and a production method in line with the preference of certain consumers for products produced using natural substances and processes.
Organic Farming in Europe is regulated by Regulations: Reg (EC) 834/2007 and Reg (EC) 889/2008. This Regulation establishes the requirements to be met for agricultural/livestock production based on respect for natural cycles, animal welfare, maintaining biodiversity, obtaining agricultural/livestock products without the use of synthetic chemicals or GMOs.
To produce any agricultural/livestock product with the qualification of ecological, organic or biological in Europe is necessary to be certified under this standard. The CAAE Certification is recognized as the guarantee that an input meets the requirements of the European norm of Ecological Production. In 2017, the Huwa-San brand has achieved the CAAE Certification in EU organic farming, in ecological livestock farming and in post-harvest activities.
